What so special about India that distinguish from other countries?

India is a country in South East Asia. This is the most populous democratic country in the world. The population of India is more than 110 crores now. India is the seventh largest country in the world as far as geographical area is concerned. You can see Indian Ocean to the south of India, Pakisthan to the west, China, Nepal and Bhutan to the north, and Bangladesh and Burma to the east. There is Arabian sea at the west coast of India and Bay of Bengal to the east coast of India. The coast line of India is around 7,500 Kms. There is a lot to say about India which cannot be written here. India got Independence today ( I mean on 15th August). India became independent on 15th August,1947. Here are some of the details of our country which will make you proud to be Indian.

India invented the Number System. Zero was invented by Aryabhatta. 

India always maintains cordial relationsships with all the nations in the world. India never invaded any country in her last 10000 years of history.

The World's first university was established in Takshsila in 700BC. More than 10,500 students from all over the world studied at Takshsila. The University of Nalanda built in the 4th century BC was also one of the greatest achievements of ancient India in the field of education.

Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to humans. Charaka has invented Ayurveda almost 2500 years ago.

Upto the year 1896, India was the only source of Diamonds in the world. No where diamonds were available. This is a fact according to the Gemological Institute of America.

Do you know that Algebra, trigonometry and calculus came from India. Quadratic equations were by Sridharacharya in the 11th century

The usage of anestheasia was very well know to ancient indian medicine system. You can see the details of anatomy, embryology, digestion, metabolism, genetics etc.. in ancient indian text books.

It is a well known fact that Sushrutha is the father of surgery. Even 2600 years ago, Sushrutha has conducted complicated surgeries like cesarean, cataract, artificial limbs, fractures, and even brain surgery and plastic surgery. No other person in the world would have done the surgery in those days.

The game Chess was invented by Indians.

The first Granite temple in the world was built in India. It is the Brihadeeshwara temple at Tanjavur in tamilnadu in India. The sikhara of the temple was made with a singe 80 tonne piece of Granite stone. This temple was built just in 5 years in those days.

do you know that the game of 'Snakes and Ladders' was inventedby a poet of 13th century, Saint Gyandev. Lot of modifications took place in this game but the main meaning remains the same, i.e. good deeds take us to the heaven and bad deeds take us to the cycle of re-births.
